Dave Gilchrist

GDI Field Service Manager

Dave has 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, ranging from forestry management for well and access road development to drilling waste management, lease site reclamation, line locating, and pipeline major project ground disturbance coordination. Throughout his career, Dave has gained valuable knowledge and experience, managing a wide range of scopes in these areas and taking on leadership roles in each. Dave joined TCB in June 2021 and continues his path in ground disturbance inspection and major project ground disturbance coordination.

Dave was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. After high school, he started his career working in a factory producing roofing shingles. He soon realized this wasn’t the path he wanted and chose to enroll in college to pursue a career in conservation. Dave earned his diploma in Natural Resource Technology and began his journey in the oil and gas industry. Fresh out of college, he faced the inconsistency and unpredictable ebbs and flows of the drilling industry and decided that subcontracting as an environmental monitor in the drilling waste management world wasn’t the right fit. Dave then moved into the forestry industry, but found similar challenges with instability. It was then that he found line locating. Through his work in line locating, he saw a clear path into ground disturbance and hasn’t looked back since.

Dave met his wife, Aubrey, around 2007. She has supported him through years of travel and working out of town. They have two boys and still live in the Edmonton area on an acreage outside of Sherwood Park.

Dave enjoys being outdoors as much as possible, spending time with his family, golfing, snowboarding, live music, and sports in general.
